What happens during a therapy session?
The first appointment is an intake appointment where pertinent history about you is gathered. Goals, symptoms and/or needs are discussed to collaboratively develop a plan for therapy.
What happens during an initial consultation?
During an initial consultation you will have an opportunity to ask questions and learn how your potential therapist may be able to best support you with your current needs.
How long are therapy sessions?
Therapy sessions can vary in length based on client needs, severity of symptoms and your goals. A typical session will range from 50-55 minutes, however, extended sessions lasting 85-90 minutes are offered as well based on need.
How often do we meet for therapy sessions?
Frequency of therapy sessions can vary based on need. Frequency is discussed during your initial consultation and decided upon by you and your therapist during intake.
Are therapy sessions in person or online?
Miikana therapy currently offers all services virtually via telehealth video. A variety of secure, HIPAA compliant video services are utilized to facilitate therapy sessions (zoom, google meets & EHR).
Do you provide letters for Emotional Support Animals (ESA Letters)?
No, Miikana Therapy does not provide ESA letters. It is recommended you discuss this need with your primary care provider.

Can I use my health insurance plan to cover therapy costs?
Miikana Therapy is currently not in network with insurance providers, however you may contact your insurance to see if you have out of network benefits and/or if you can submit a superbill to be reimbursed for any therapy services you pay for. Your plan may also have out of network benefits you are unaware of. Please contact your insurance provider directly to inquire about these options.
How much does a therapy session cost?

What is a superbill?
A superbill is a document generated by a therapist documenting the therapy sessions you paid for out of your pocket that can be submitted to your insurance for reimbursement if your insurance will accept a superbill. Use the number on the back of your insurance card to inquire if your plan qualifies. Miikana therapy provides superbills for services as needed. Let us know if you need one at intake.
How much does supervision cost?
1 hour of Individual Supervision: $120

How do I know if my insurance will reimburse me for services?
Call your insurance provider directly and ask if individual, family or couples therapy is covered by your plan. If covered, ask what your financial responsibility is; copay, deductible, etc. You can also request a list of in network providers.
How much does consultation cost?
1 hour consultation cost: $100-$150
